First 19 Weeks of Pregnancy

I really wanted to document this pregnancy on the blog, so I am starting a little later than I wanted but I guess better late than never! I will recap the first 19 weeks and then hopefully be able to keep up with a weekly post starting at 20 weeks.

4 weeks

I found out I was pregnant on August 22 at exactly 4 weeks to the day.  I just had a crazy feeling that I was going to get a positive test even though I had been really sick for most of the month. I went and bought a test one day after work and took it as soon as I got home.  Sure enough it only took a few seconds for the line to appear but I walked away pretending like I was imagining things and went back in to check in 2 minutes.  Sure enough there was a very clear line!  I was pretty much in shock.  I had a feeling I was going to get that result but it was still crazy to realize I was pregnant.  I was heading over to my mom's to get Brennen so I had to keep the secret to myself until I got home that night and could tell Ryan.  He was shocked too and we really didn't say much the rest of the night.

That weekend we had planned to go to the lake with our friends Landon & Julia so we were worried about me not being able to drink and being on the boat. We hadn't told our families yet so we still wanted to keep the news to ourselves.  We found out a few weeks later that Julia was also expecting and didn't want to tell us yet so both of us didn't drink and it worked out great. It was pretty funny looking back!

5-7 weeks

We shared the news with our families when I was 5 weeks along.  I am horrible at keeping secrets so I just had to tell them! My mom actually ended up finding out early but here was how we told the rest of the family...

I was pretty sick these three weeks with lots of reflux and just being exhausted. I had been getting over a cold and my cough would not go away and it constantly made me about gag and get sick so that was no fun at all!  I constantly had to eat during the day or else I felt very sick but nothing ever sounded very good. I snacked on a lot of plain crackers during this time.

8 weeks

While I was 8 weeks pregnant we got an offer on our house and found out we would be moving in 5 weeks.  It was very overwhelming

9 weeks

I was scheduled to have my first doctors appointment on Thursday, September 26, 2013. So I was exactly 9 weeks on this day.  When we walked into the office they told us that my doctor had just been called out of the office for a delivery so we could do my blood work and paper work and hopefully she'd be back.  Well, we ended up having to reschedule for Monday, September 30th at 2:30.  I got a call on Monday around 2:00 that my doctor had once again been called out of the office and wouldn't be able to see me until 4pm.  Let me tell you I was getting quite anxious to see the doctor and have my ultrasound. So we finally get there at 4pm and get right back to see the doctor.  She chatted for a minute and we got right to the ultrasound!

"OhMyGod is that 2?" were the first words out of my mouth when this picture came up.  Yes, that is in fact two babies...We are having TWINS!!

Our families and friends could not believe the news when we told them.  We are so excited but still so in shock. It will take awhile for the news to really settle in.

10-11 weeks

Weeks 10 and 11 were pretty much a blur!  Between packing, moving, getting a storage unit, building a fence and all the other things I had to do I know I wasn't feeling that great but I had to keep busy to get the house packed up and ready for our move.

12-13 weeks

We closed on our house October 21 and moved in with my parents.  The move was actually very smooth for everyone and I know I will love having the extra help with Brennen!  We went back to the doctor on October 29 and got to see the babies once again.

It is so amazing to me how much they are already developed and look like, well...babies!  I still can't wrap my head around the fact that there are 2 in there, but I guess eventually I will be able to!

14-15 weeks

There seemed to be a switch that went off right between 14 and 15 weeks. During the 14th week I had quite a few really rough days where I just felt horrible and got sick.  Then, I woke up Saturday morning and felt amazing!  I have luckily continued to feel pretty good most days since then.  I still have a little nauseousness in the morning, but the reflux and headaches have been much better!  I only hope this pattern will stick around for awhile :)

My belly has definitely really popped out these last two weeks.  I can no longer hide the fact that I'm pregnant!  I am also pretty sure I have started feeling little movements this last week. They first started out as just little flutters, but I know now that it's the little ones moving around in there.  I mostly feel them during the day while I'm sitting at my desk at work.  I just love it and can't wait for Ryan and Brennen especially to be able to feel them too!

16-19 weeks

I know they say you usually show much quicker with your second pregnancy, but holy moly I am growing very quickly this time! My mom keeps telling me I'm going to be huge and not be able to do anything, but I didn't believe her until this last week.  It's already getting harder and harder to get around.  If I do too much my feet and body ache at the end of the day and I am constantly in the bathroom.  Every time I stand up I feel like I must rush to the bathroom.

On December 4th I finally felt the babies move from the outside! I don't know what was going on in there, but all day they were moving around like crazy. Maybe they were fighting or something :) And Ryan felt a tiny movement on December 7th. Before we got out of bed that morning I made him lay there for awhile until he felt a tiny movement!

Although this pregnancy has been quite a bit harder than Brennen's, I still feel like I have been pretty lucky with how easy it has been!

My Little Man

Trying to keep up with a 2 and a half year old is hard work! He is constantly testing our patience but when he is being his adorable, sweet little self he can do no wrong with us.  It just amazes me how he can flip from cute and calm to crazy and rambunctious in a matter of seconds!

Ryan walked by me while I was folding some laundry and patted me on the bum.  B happened to be following him and so he patted me on the bum as he walked by too.  Ryan and I both busted out laughing.  Brennen is definitely Daddy's little mini me and follows him around quite often these days.  Brennen thought he was so funny since we started laughing so we had to explain to him that wasn't really appropriate and only to do that to Mommy & Daddy. We'll see how soon he does this to someone else and we are both horrified :)

When Ryan and I kiss each other these days if we kiss more than once Brennen will say "too many kisses, too many kisses".  It cracks us up, but isn't it too early for him to be embarrassed of us kissing?!?

Brennen has become very observant and opinionated in the past few weeks. He always wants to know what you are doing or where we are going and is constantly asking questions. I love how much he is learning and seeing experiences through his eyes.

Brennen will call me his "little thing".  He'll say "come here you little thing".  Most recently if he's looking for me he will say "where's that little mommy with two babies in her tummy?". Cutest thing ever!  He always wants to kiss my belly or will come over and just rub my tummy and say "I love the babies"!

He went to the doctor on Oct 23rd and weighs 26 pounds (25%) and is 35.5 inches (30%) tall. He did great at the doctor although he was very unsure at first what he was going to have to do.  He ended up getting the flue vaccine that they shoot up your nose. He cried for about 2 seconds then got a sucker and the world was right once again!

Brennen has picked up on some new dance moves recently and his newest one he calls "the wiggle".  He puts his hands either in his pockets or on this waistband and shakes his little booty.  It's the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Brennen has an iron clad memory.  He will remember pretty much anything you tell him and even things you don't want him to remember.  There have been multiple occasions when I say something I shouldn't and days later he will say it knowing he's not supposed to.  Like when the dogs bark I will say "shut up Kaiser and Jaxon" then he will say it too. I tell him oops we aren't supposed to say that but when they bark he will say it again and laugh then say "I mean be quiet Kaiser and Jaxon".  So he knows what he's supposed to say but thinks he's so funny if he says what he's not supposed to!

He is so much fun right now when he isn't testing our patience and seeing what he can get away with :)  He definitely makes us all laugh everyday and is always capable of putting you in a good mood no matter what's going on.  I especially can't wait for him to become a big brother next year!

Seeing DOUBLE...

It appears that we will be welcoming two new additions to the Robie family in 2014!

Movin' on Up...

So I know I said last time I posted that I was back to blogging and now it's been 5 weeks and no posts, but we have been on quite the whirlwind around here lately.  Let me catch you up...

We've had our house on the market for quite sometime now and we finally sold it!  It has been a long, crazy process and I haven't wanted to say anything because I didn't want to jinx us.  We closed on Monday and I am so happy that process has come to an end!  We have moved in with my parents to save up some money.  We were so lucky to have our wonderful family and friends help us move! It has been a very stressful and crazy time, but it will all be worth it in the end.

My parents are so graciously not only taking us in but our two large dogs!  Only part of their yard was fenced, so a couple of weekends before we moved in my dad, brother, Ryan and his dad built a privacy fence for the pups. They have been slowly adjusting very well. The first night they were up every hour or so whining and wondering what the heck was going on, but they are getting into a routine and doing really good!
Brennen has been really amazing during this whole move!  He actually helped us pack up his whole room. He didn't even care we were putting all his books, toys and bedroom all in boxes. He just wanted to help which was great! Luckily he is so used to being at my parent's house that the change has been very easy for him.  He went to the doctor Wednesday and is doing great!  I will do a separate post for him soon!

B saying goodbye to his bedroom
I thought that selling this house would be a little more emotional for me, but it really just turned out to be a relief to finally get rid of it!  I will definitely miss the house and all the wonderful memories that we made over the past 6 years. It was after all the house we came home to on our wedding night and where we brought Brennen home from the hospital. It was a great house to start our life together and I will always remember the wonderful times we had there!

Last time at the house

I am quite exhausted from having to move in just 5 weeks but now I can finally relax and enjoy not having a house to take care of anymore :)

My Little Man

I am continuing with my posts about Brennen and some of the fun and silly things a 2-year-old says and does. If you missed my first post, you can find it here.  He really keeps us quite entertained these days and I know I am going to love looking back on these someday!

Around the 15th of July Brennen really started talking like such a big boy.  His words are so clear and he talks in sentences like it's no big deal.  He catches onto some of the funniest phrases and it amazes me that he knows how to use them in the correct context. We have been told may times by strangers that you talk really well for a 2-year-old!

Ryan bought B some golf clubs just his size and he absolutely LOVES to play!  He always wants to go outside and hit golf balls or putt around in the house.  He is actually getting really good!

We went to dinner for my Mom's birthday and then we all headed back to our house for cake. B rode with my parents and they said on the way home he was asking about Mommy & Daddy, Uncle Dustin & Meg and Uncle Chris & Sarah.  We all drove separately so my mom was explaining to him that we were all in our own cars but were going to meet them at our house.  All of a sudden Brennen said "well that's going to be so much fun"!

Brennen now sings along with his toddler tunes and it is the cutest thing.  It sounds more like he is screaming, but I think it's the cutest singing voice ever! We were listening to Old McDonald Had a Farm in the car the other day on the way to my parent's house.  After each animal Brennen would say "Mommy, you like ducks"? I would say "Yes, I like ducks. Do you like ducks?" and he would get really excited and say "yeah, I do".  He continued to do this for each animal the song went through.

One of the new phrases he has picked up on is when we asked him to do something he will say "okay, fine, perfect" in an annoyed voice. He has such a little attitude these days and it is so funny because we have no idea where he picked this up!

He is really pushing his limits these days and doesn't like to listen at all.  I know this is his way of figuring out what he can and can't get away with, but I am definitely ready for this phase to pass.  He is so smart and thinks he is so funny when he doesn't listen.  It can be quite challenging tyring to make him understand what he needs to be doing.

At bedtime he loves us to tickle him and do "X marks the spot" then we have to sing the ABC's or he can't go to sleep. He usually always asks for a drink before we leave too. He is getting very good at stalling on the bedtime! I still use a video monitor and one night it came unplugged and died and I woke up to Brennen screaming at the top of his lungs. He had either had a bad dream or he had been calling for me and I couldn't hear him. We went through a rough patch of him not wanting to sleep in his own bed because he was scared but now I just have to spend a little more time singing and tickling him while he starts to fall asleep.  I also usually always say "goodnight, baby". And now anytime I say that B will say "I'm not a baby". So I've had to change it to "goodnight, my big boy"!

He has become obsessed with playing the game Temple Run on our iPhones. He is actually really good at it which amazes me.

Brennen is such a polite little boy!  He has picked up on saying please and thank you and I rarely have to tell him to say it anymore.  He knows to do it all on his own and it makes me such a proud mama!

We are enjoying this stage so much and just can't get enough of our big boy!  He brings so much joy and love into our lives and I look forward to watching him grow and change everyday!

I'm Back!

I just looked and realized it has been since the end of July since my last post...Oops!  Unfortunately, Brennen and I spent most of August really sick and I just haven't felt up to blogging about much :(

So now I am back and ready to start blogging again!  We have lots of exciting and crazy things happening in our lives right now that I will catch up on over the next few weeks.  So stay tuned :)

I'm excited to get caught up on everything so I don't have too big of a gap when I go to look back on this time of our lives!

Happy Birthday Mama!

We celebrated my mom's birthday at the lake on Saturday and since I don't get service at the lake, this post is a few days late.

The Wednesday before her birthday we went to dinner with my family at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then came back to our house for cookie cake!

My mom is the most amazing woman in the world and I really am so grateful to have such a wonderful mom!  Becoming a mother myself has only made my love and appreciation for her grow stronger and deeper.

She is the most giving and caring person and I love learning from her and striving to be more and more like her everyday.

She is the most amazing Grandma to Brennen!  She is always there for us no matter what and I can count on her for anything that we need. I only hope I can become half the mother to my children that she is to me.

She truley is my best friend and I cannot imagine my life without her!

Happy Birthday Mama! I hope it was great and I look forward to spending another amazing year together. Love you more than anything!
