Brennen's First Trip to the ER

Okay, lets see if I can get caught up on some of what has happened over the past 6 months!

Towards the end of February while we were still living with my parents, Brennen had his first trip to the Emergency Room.  We had put him to bed and gotten into bed ourselves and were watching some TV.  At my parents house we stayed in their basement so we were all in one big room and Brennen's bed was right next to his dresser.  Well, he was moving around in his bed trying to get comfortable when he fell forward and hit his eyebrow right on the corner of his dresser.  Looking back it was a horrible setup to have his dresser right there without any cushions on the corners.

I was dozing off trying to fall asleep myself when I heard a very loud "thud" and B immediately started screaming.  Now remember, I was a very large 7 months pregnant with twins and usually took quite a bit of time to get out of bed.  But the moment I heard that first scream I was out of bed and over to Brennen even before Ryan got there.  I knew it was bad, but thought maybe just a good bump on his head.  With only the TV on I didn't see any blood when I got over there so I grabbed him and he put his head on my chest.  When he looked up we could see it was definitely bleeding and I was covered in a little blood too :(  My poor baby had a pretty good little gash on his eyebrow.  We tried to stay as calm as we could so he would stay calm too but of course Mommy was a little freaked out! Brennen actually stayed very calm and hardly cried at all.

This was after holding pressure on it for a good 30 minutes so it doesn't look as bad as it did at first.

Ryan just held him and put pressure on it while we loaded up and drove to the ER. Brennen had skipped a nap this particular day so we tried to keep him awake on the way there, but we were unsuccessful. I asked once we got there if it was okay to let him sleep and they said yes so it was actually a very easy experience.  He ended up not even getting stitches.  They just used what they call liquid skin (pretty much like super glue) to help it heal.  It looked like a glue stick and they just ran it over the cut twice and we were sent on our way.  The worst part was having to clean it out which woke him up but he hardly even cried.

It was a pretty quick and easy experience but one I hope to not repeat in the near future ;) But I'm sure this won't be our last!

There were definitely extra snuggles over the next few days, but other than that he was his normal, crazy self!
