Pumpkin Carving & Weekend Recap

Last Thursday night we went to Ryan's parent's house to carve pumpkins.  I ended up coming down with something so I wasn't feeling well at all, but we went and had dinner and Ryan carved our pumpkin for us.  Brennen didn't want anything to do with the inside of the pumpkin. He wouldn't even touch it.  Silly boy!

Friday I stayed home sick from work so luckily my mom took Brennen so I could sleep all day until Ryan came home!

Saturday we still took it easy pretty much all day because I was still recovering.  That night I got to meet the new coaches Ryan will be working with and their wives.  It was a fun night, but by the time we got home I just wanted to go to bed!  Ryan on the other hand decided at 11:30pm to start smoking the pork shoulder that we bought.  Yes, he is crazy!  He was up every hour or hour and a half checking the smoker. Luckily, I was so tired his alarm only woke me up once and I slept in until 9am since B was with his Nana :)

Sunday we had people over for the Chiefs game.  Ryan once again did an awesome job smoking the meat!!  It was delicious :) I really don't watch much of the games because I am watching Brennen, and I guess I don't miss much because we are doing terrible :(  Oh well, we will just continue to get everyone together and enjoy the company!

I am off tomorrow so we might be headed to the pumpkin patch during the day and then trick or treating tomorrow night.  Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!

Omaha Zoo Day Trip (10/24/12)

Last Wednesday my mom, my brother Chris, Ryan, Brennen and I took a day trip to the Henry Doorly Omaha Zoo.  This was Ryan's first time going. My mom & I decided this was our 7th or 8th time!

Ryan and I got up nice and early and left our house at 6am.  We had Brennen stay the night at my mom's house so he could sleep a little longer.  We left her house around 6:30am.

The weather was supposed to be 75 degrees and sunny, so we were pretty excited about the day.  When we finally got close to Omaha it was so foggy we couldn't even see anything off the highway.  When we got to the exit for the zoo we couldn't see the dome that is usually easily visible.

Besides the fog and mist, we still had a wonderful time!  It only got up to about 60 degrees, but there are enough indoor exhibits that we just did all that first and it eventually cleared up.

    

 
 

 

 

We had a blast, but were all very exhausted!  If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend this zoo!

Amazing Weather = Perfect Weekend (10/19 - 10/21)

I have been a horrible blogger lately...sorry!  I meant to post this last week but wanted to add a few more pictures, so here it is! 

We had some of the most beautiful weather last weekend and we made sure to take advantage of it!!

Friday we grabbed some quick dinner before heading to Sams to get the meat to smoke on Saturday.  Brennen went to town on the Chinese food!  He ate the rice, orange chicken, spring rolls, crab rangoon and fortune cookie.  He has been so picky lately that it was nice to see him try new things! 

Saturday morning I got a workout in and then we just hung out around the house while Ryan and my brother smoked the ribs and pork.  It was so good for Brennen to get to spend time with his Uncle Dustin! Ryan did an amazing job for his first smoking experience! The ribs just fell off the bone and were perfect.  I told him that he set the standard pretty high and now I am going to expect this every time :)

It was such a wonderful weekend! If only it could have lasted a little longer...Monday definitely came too soon :(
